The Alexandrian Community is a religious society of apostolic ministers (lay and ordained), organized in alignment with structural paradigms born to the streams of spirituality and life of the Christian monastic and mendicant traditions, interpreted to meet the needs of a dispersed, relatively autorhythmic membership, living out diverse vocations.
We are a community committed to the impetuses of the ancient faith and praxis of the Christian tradition, and to understanding and applying its wisdom in contemporary contexts.
We are a sacramental community, that seeks to preserve and promulgate the seven sacraments of the universal church, and to maintain a valid historical apostolic succession.
We are a contemplative community, invested in the mystical streams of the Christian wisdom tradition which have often been relegated to the margins of corporate Christianity.
We are a post-denominational community, that serves both as a home to those without additional religious belonging, and as a wayhouse for those wayfarers from well-defined spiritual bodies who are further called to the mutuality and collegiality afforded by belonging in our non-exclusionary membership.
We are a community that deeply values serious ecumenism and sincere inter-religious dialogue, celebrating the wisdom and perspectives of could-be others that allows us to collectively grow and flourish in our shared light.
Simply put, the Alexandrian Community is a body of peers seeking to follow the Way of Jesus. We stand at the precipice of the rebirth of the church in the contemporary world, embracing the so-called "easter experience" that is the 21st century's rapid disappearing of the institutions and structures of Christendom that have defined the Christian religion for the past five-hundred years.
The Alexandrian Community endeavors to understand and honor the past, while embracing present and its unique needs. We find deep relevance in the teachings of Jesus to both the world of antiquity and to that of our contemporary age, and we seek to find meaningful ways to engage its essential themes in support of soothing the perennial wounds of the human condition.
